A simple plan…
My health Care proposal…
1. Allow insurance companies to make “a la cart insurance plans.” This will allow the individual to customize their insurance plans based on costs that THE INDIVIDUAL is comfortable with. This will allow many of the poor and lower middle class to purchase basic coverage for themselves and for their families.
2. Allow individuals to purchase plans from out of state companies. This will allow for competition among the many different companies and will help drive costs down for the consumer.
3. Tort reform! America has so many lawyers that everybody is suing the pants off everybody! Doctors pay outrageous malpractice insurance rates that drive costs up. Limit the amount that can be awarded in malpractice suits so that doctors can worry about saving lives and less about getting sued.
4. Reform Medicare and Medicaid! over a third of their payments are fraudulent! This abuse is driving up health care costs as well as our national deficit! By eliminating the fraud, prices will start coming down due to efficiency and cost management. (Fraudulent payments drives prices higher because: 1. they are using up resources. 2.They are artificially Increasing demand. Basic economics: if supply decreases, price goes up… if demand increases, price goes up)
5. Start eliminating mandates by the government on what has to be covered by insurance companies. Or at least let the consumer opt out of certain types of coverage in order to obtain a cheaper rate.
These are just a few free market solutions to our health care problem. In none of these solutions is the government expanding its control over the industry or the people. In fact, people would be offered more health care choices and more affordable plans.
